I. INTRODUCTION
The plaintiff, Jeffrey Manual Amaral (“Amaral”), brings this action pursuant to section 205(g) of the Social Security Act, 42 U.S.C. § 405(g), seeking judicial review of the final decision of the Commissioner of Social Security (the “Commissioner”). Amaral challenges the decision of the Administrative Law Judge (the “hearing officer”) denying his application for Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance Benefits.
