BREYER, Circuit Judge.
The claimant, William Goodermote, is a 52 year-old man with a 10th grade education. He has worked in the past as a cab driver, furniture mover, factory laborer, and operations manager of a security guard business. He applied for Social Security disability benefits based upon claims of various impairments. After a hearing, an administrative law judge denied the claim on the ground that Goodermote was not “disabled” within the meaning of the relevant statute, 42 U.S.C. § 423(d).
