The plaintiff brought this action against Santa Monica Lodge No. 906, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, an unincorporated association, and 1188 persons alleged to be members of it, of whom 188 were designated by their true names and 1000 by names alleged to be fictitious. Two corporations were also made defendants, one being an incorporation of the lodge, and the other, Santa Monica Elks Home, Inc., being a corporation which owned property formerly occupied by the lodge.
