Change something. Do something different. When I get depressed, when I get sad, when I get, like, frustrated or I get in that dark space, I feel like that's my body and my soul telling me, we not comfortable here. We don't like this. You're doing something you ain't got no business doing. Change it. We were born crying. That's the first mode of communication. Let them toxins out. And I think crying is a removal of old beliefs and a replacement of new ones. I don't want to see nobody suffering. If it's a kid watching this, you don't have to go look for no trauma, because trauma will come and find you easily. But how you respond to it, you're going to have to use that crap that comes into your life, that trauma that comes into your life, and you're going to have to use it as fertilizer and try to grow into the thing that you always dreamed of being. When you react to situations, reaction can show mental illness, but responding shows intelligence and awareness. I try to respond to situations and I react. Sometimes I react. Sometimes I'm not mentally well. Sometimes I need a nap. I find the funny in the trauma. And we all have trauma. How you handle your trauma is going to determine the quality of your life. Every human needs family.

Well, we know the biggest killer in many respects is loneliness, right?

TH
Tiffany Haddish1:17

That's why you need family, even if it's family that get on your nerves. You can laugh at them later, but you need that. I have seen so much bad . I'm chasing the laughs. I'm chasing the joy. I'm trying to find it in every single time.

most people know tiffany haddish as one of the funniest women on the planet what far fewer people know is the story behind her success before tiffany's incredible career there was trauma there was homelessness there was heartbreak and some truly dark moments yet somehow despite all of this she emerged as one of the most joyful optimistic and resilient people i've ever met in this conversation we explore how she learned to find light in the darkest moments why she believes our words shape our reality, the power of visualization, and how choosing joy became her greatest act of survival and, in turn, success. This isn't a conversation about fame. This is a conversation about hope, about resilience, about self-belief, and about why choosing joy might just be one of the most powerful acts of self-care available to any of us. So without further ado, please enjoy my conversation with one of my most favorite people, the one and only Tiffany Haddish. Tiffany Haddish. Episode notes

Before she made the world laugh, Tiffany Haddish had to use humor just to survive.

Growing up, Tiffany navigated homelessness and childhood trauma that would have broken most people. But it didn't break her, it built her. In this episode of The LIVING Room Podcast, Chris Wharton sits down with one of Hollywood's most fearless voices for a conversation that goes far beyond the punchlines, and headlines…

Tiffany opens up about how comedy became a coping mechanism before it ever became a career, why she made a conscious decision to choose joy over bitterness, and how her unshakeable belief in manifestation took her from sleeping in her car to the cover of Sports Illustrated. She also shares what it really took to land her breakout role in Girls Trip, and why she refuses to let pain write her story.

Tiffany Haddish is a comedian, actress, and New York Times bestselling author of The Last Black Unicorn and Curse You With Joy. She is best known for Girls Trip and for a career built on turning suffering into strength.

If you've ever had to fight to rise above your circumstances and fight for your dreams, this one's for you.
