Plaintiff appeals as of right from the circuit court’s affirmance of a State Tenure Commission decision denying his petition for rein statement. Defendants cross-appeal, raising two issues. We reverse and remand for a hearing before the defendant school board.

Plaintiff, a teacher who had achieved tenured status with the Hamtramck school system, was laid off in September, 1976. In October of that year, plaintiff signed a probationary teacher’s contract with the Roseville school system.
