The West Haven School District brought this product liability action on December 9, 1985, against seven manufacturers and distributors of asbestos and asbestos-contain ing materials, to recover public funds it spent in 1983 and 1984 to abate health hazards allegedly created by the presence of those materials in twelve West Haven School District buildings.
