—In an action to recover damages for medical malpractice, (1) the defendant Long Island College Hospital appeals from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Kings County (Clemente, J.), dated October 6, 1998, which, upon a jury verdict awarding the plaintiff damages of $3,000,000 for past pain and suffering, $10,050,000 for future pain and suffering, $1,000,000 for past medical expenses, and $1,950,000 for future medical expenses, and upon the granting of its motion to set aside the verdict to the extent of granting a new trial with respect to damages for past and future pain and suffering unless…
