Defendant Hensley Construction, Inc. (Hensley) is the original contractor, and defendants John J. Smith Masonry Company (Smith), Kupferer Brothers Ornamental Iron Works (Kupferer) and Big Boy’s Steel Erection (Big Boy) are original subcontractors who erected a warehouse in 1980. The warehouse collapsed in 1991. Mitchell-Hugeback, Inc. (Mitchell), is the designer of a 1990 retrofit of the warehouse done under contract with the owner of the building, plaintiff R.E.
