In this wrongful death action arising from a motor vehicle collision, we consider whether the trial court erred in deciding as a matter of law the question of proximate cause and in granting and refusing certain instructions.

In April 1990, appellants David N. Thomas and Judith M. Thomas, administrators of the estate of their deceased son, Michael David Thomas, filed this action for damages under the death by wrongful act statute, Code § 8.01-50, against appellees Christopher D.
