RILEY, Circuit Judge.

Pamela Allen (Allen), a black African American, brought this action pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e-2000e-16, and 42 U.S.C. § 1981, alleging Tobacco Superstore, Inc., and HEK, Inc. (collectively, TSI), failed to promote her based on race and in retaliation for filing a charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The district court found in Allen’s favor and awarded Allen back pay, compensatory damages, punitive damages, attorney fees, and costs. TSI appeals. We affirm in part, reverse in part,…
