This was a proceeding in the nature of a quo warranto, by the State of Missouri, at the relation of the *82Attorney General, against the respondent, Joseph 0. Ran-son, requiring him to show by what warrant or authority he claimed to have and exercise the powers and duties of a justice of the peace within and for the township of Kaw, in Jackson county, Missouri.
