This is an appeal from a conviction for contempt of a Subcommittee of the United States Senate’s Special Committee to Investigate Organized Crime in Interstate Commerce. 1

It is desirable in this case to make a detailed statement of the circumstances so that the reader may not only perceive the operative facts but also may be aware of the background of the case.
