Defendant Rinier was adjudicated an habitual offender and sentenced to life imprisonment. He appeals the finding on the ground that three of his four prior convictions were improperly admitted into evidence in the habitual criminal proceeding.
Defendant entered guilty pleas in Lewis County, Washington, on February 1, 1978, to charges of taking a motor vehicle without permission and assault in the second degree. After the pleas were accepted, the prosecuting attorney filed a supplemental sentencing information alleging that defendant was an habitual offender under RCW 9.92.090.…
