hThe defendant, Lemerick Vernell Christopher, was indicted in a superseding bill with charges of attempted second degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting an officer. A jury convicted as charged on the first two charges. The state dismissed the resisting an officer charge. Christopher was sentenced to 30 years at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence on the attempted murder conviction and 15 years at hard labor without benefits on the felony possession of a firearm conviction; the sentences were ordered to be served…
