In December 2003, a jury found appellant guilty of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance (heroin), in violation of D.C.Code § 48 — 904.01(a)(1) (2001).1 In *11872006, appellant filed, through current counsel, a motion to vacate his sentence under D.C.Code § 23-110, alleging that his trial counsel had rendered constitutionally ineffective representation. After a hearing held in 2008, the trial court denied appellant’s motion in 2009. This appeal followed.
