This petition for a writ of certiorari was brought under general laws 1956, §45-24-20, to review the decision of the zoning board of review of the city of Warwick denying an application for an exception or variance under the zoning ordinance of that city. Pursuant to the writ the respondent board has certified the pertinent records to this court.

The petitioner owns a parcel of land on Warwick avenue in an area zoned as a general 'business district. On February 20, 1958 he filed an application for an exception or a variance under sections 4.1 and 14.2.2 of the zoning ordinance. He stated…
