The appellants assign the following errors, which are treated of in their order :
I. “ That the court erred in- deciding that no demand to pay the coupons was necessary to obtain the writ of mandamus.”
We have in the record before us only the petition, the re*461turn, and the judgment of the court. There' is no bill of exceptions showing what took place at the trial, and we can only know what were the rulings of the court by necessary' inference from what appears in ‘the record.
