In the underlying lawsuit, Appellants Sandra Galvan, individually and as next friend of Valerie Rubio, a minor, and Maria Zempoaltealt, sued Appellee Rosalva Garcia for negligence arising from an automobile accident in which vehicles driven by Galvan and Garcia collided.
