By chapter 15, of the Acts of Assembly of 1195, a corporation named and styled the “Trustees of the Roman Catholic Church in the Town of Baltimore" was created, and it was declared “capable in law to purchase, take, hold, receive, and enjoy * * * * in fee simple, or for any lesser estates, any property, real, personal, or mixed, which, by the Constitution and laws of this State, may be acquired and held by religious societies."
