On June 24, 1994, petitioners commenced a special proceeding pursuant to Election Law § 16-114. Petitioners, qualified voters in the Town of Amherst, allege that respondents, Republican candidates for public office in the Town and the political committees supporting those candidates (see, Election Law § 14-100 [1]), failed to comply with the campaign finance disclosure requirements of Election Law article 14 in connection with the general election held November 2, 1993.
