The appellant, a negro twenty-eight years old, was convicted of murder in the first degree in the Greene County Circuit Court and his punishment assessed by a jury at death. The charge was that he shot with a pistol and killed his paramour, a negress named Savilla “Billie” Scott.. His defense on the facts was an alibi.
