Appeal from a judgment of the Supreme Court (Benza, J), entered November 15, 2004 in Albany County, which denied petitioners’ application for counsel fees pursuant to, inter alia, Judiciary Law § 475.

In this proceeding, two law firms seek to recover fees, costs *873and. disbursements from litigation involving overcharges by respondent New York State Electric & Gas Corporation (hereinafter NYSEG) upon certain of its ratepayers.
