The petitioner is a labor union representing certain supervisory employees of the respondent, the New York City Transit Authority. The petitioner and the respondent entered into a collective bargaining agreement effective October 1, 1974 and terminating September 30, 1976. That agreement provided for certain benefits to the members of the petitioner, such as a 5% wage increase due October 1, 1975, as well as an obligation of the respondent to pay certain wage increments and a 4% increase in shift differential pay.
