Defendants A. Rea Construction, Inc., and American Casualty Company appeal as of right from a circuit court order granting judgment for plaintiff and from an order denying defendants’ motion for new trial. We reverse and remand.

Defendant A. Rea Construction, Inc., was a general contractor for the Walter P. Reuther Psychiatric Hospital construction project in Westland, Michigan. Williamson Mechanical, Inc., was a sub contractor to Rea Construction. Plaintiff was a subcontractor to Williamson.
