This was a petition to this court by the State of South Carolina on the relation of B. M. Morse against J. D. Cornwell and others, as county commissioners of York County, dated April 12, 1893. A rule to show cause was issued, a return made thereto, and the hearing was had May 15.

This is an application addressed to this court in the exercise of its original jurisdiction for a mandamus to compel the respondents, as the corporate agents of Broad Kiver Township, in York County, to levy a tax upon the taxable property of said township sufficient to pay certain past due coupons on bonds issued by respondents as *27sucb corporate agents, of which the relator is the bona fide holder.
