The petitioner was an employee of the president of the board of aldermen of the city of New York, holding the position of chief examiner in the president’s office. He was honorably discharged from the military service of the United States on October 8, 1919, having served as army field clerk. He was removed from his office on or about May 19, 1931, by the president of the board of aldermen.
