Before considering the merits, there is a preliminary question for consideration, involving the jurisdiction of the circuit court to pronounce any decree in this cause. The jurisdiction of the court seems never to have been brought to the notice of the court below until after an amended and supplemental bill had been filed by complainant, and the cause about ready for hearing. In considering this question of jurisdiction, we shall therefore consider the status of the cause as it appears upon both the original and amended bills.
