The Gaines-ville & Northwestern Railroad extends from Gainesville, Ga., where there are other railroads, northwardly through Hall and White counties, to the stone quarries of the Piedmont Corporation, serving the quarries and the intermediate territory as a common carrier. Its entire capital stock is owned by the Piedmont Corporation. In 1921 it became embarrassed by debt, and on January 3,1922, the United States loaned it, under the provisions of section 210 of the Transportation Act (41 Stat. 468), $75,000 secured by $75,-000 of bonds which were themselves secured by…
