The defendant Gilbert Hall and his wife, Helen P. Hall, were jointly indicted for the murder of Fannie Walker. After Helen Hall’s trial was severed upon motion of her attorney, the case proceeded to trial against Gilbert Hall. Defendant was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter after a jury trial and was sentenced to a term of not less than eight nor more than twelve years in the penitentiary.
