The plaintiff, as assignee of William C. Brown, brings this action to recover the amount of an insurance made by the defendants upon certain machinery, &c., in a paper-mill at Ogdensburgh. Brown, being the owner of the machinery, on the 30th of November, 1860, sold the same to certain persons doing business under the name and firm of Sturtevant, Sons & Co., for the sum of $2,500; $500 paid in cash, $500 and interest on the 1st of J uly 1861, $500 and interest on the 1st day of July, 1862; $500 and interest on the 1st day of January, 1863; and the balance and interest on the 1st…
