The defendant is a railroad corporation engaged in interstate commerce, and employed the plaintiff as a section hand. The defendant has a main line of railroad running through the city of Binghamton, and also a side track connected therewith by a crossover, known as Shay’s siding, and it devoted both of these to interstate transportation. The defendant was making a number of alterations and improvements in its Binghamton yard, and among these was the installation of an added crossover to connect the main line of its railroad with Shay’s siding a few feet away.
