On or about the 22d day of August, 1906, the plaintiff entered into a written contract with the defendant Goelet whereby the plaintiff obligated itself to provide all the material and perform all the work for the erection of the “ mason work, structural iron and steel work and carpenter work ” in connection with a building, on premises owned by Goelet. The contract provided that “ the entire- building is to be completely finished and shall be ready for occupancy on or before the 1st day of July, 1907, and in default thereof the Contractor shall pay to the Owner the sum of Two Hundred Dollars…
