The defendant-appellant, Michael Lewis, hereafter the defendant, was found guilty of armed robbery by a Winnebago County jury and was sentenced to a term of 4-12 years in the penitentiary. On appeal the defendant asserts that he was not proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, that he was denied effective assistance of counsel, and that the trial court committed reversible error by failing to give sua sponte an instruction on the weight to be given the testimony of an accomplice.
