On September 12, 2008, James Joyce sued Armstrong Teasdale, LLP, alleging it had breached a fiduciary duty the law firm owed to him. At the same time the law firm represented Joyce individually, it prepared several documents for TeehGuard Security, L.L.C. (a company Joyce formed with his wife) granting TeehGuard an exclusive license to sell certain computer firewall technology Joyce had invented.
