ROGERS, Chief Judge:

Appellant Darwin Galindo appeals from his conviction by a jury of taking indecent liberties with a minor child. 1 D.C.Code § 22-3501(a) (Repl.1989). He contends that the trial judge erred in finding that the three-year-old complainant was competent to testify, in precluding cross-examination of the complainant’s mother about prior bad acts and allowing the mother to testify about the complainant’s statements, and in admitting the testimony of the examining physician about the mother’s statements.
