The defendant was convicted in the Hudson Quarter Sessions on an indictment charging *173that on May 16tli, 1909, while he was a member of the board of education of the town of West Few York ho solicited a bribe as the consideration of his vote and influence for the appointment of one Warren F. Hannis to the position of principal of a public school in the town. The entire record of the proceeding's had at the trial has been returned with the writ of error pursuant to section 136 of. the Criminal Procedure act. Comp. Stat., p. 1863.
