Appellant Public Service Corporation is a distributor of fuel gas, and for that purpose obtained a franchise for the construction and operation of a gas pipe line distribution system in appellant city, the city of Hattiesburg. In that franchise it was provided, among many other things, that “ whenever the grantee shall cause any opening or alteration whatever to be made for any purpose, the work shall be completed within a reasonable time, and the grantee shall upon the completion of such work, restore the property disturbed to as good condition as it was before such opening or alteration,…
