In what appears to be a case of first impression, we are asked to determine whether appellants, a pastor and assistant pastor of *Supp. 24the South Bay United Pentecostal Church, who are also the president and principal of the South Bay Christian Academy, were properly convicted of violating the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (Reporting Act), Penal Code section 11166, subdivision (a).1 The statute provides in pertinent part, “(a) Except as provided in subdivision (b), any child care custodian . . . who has knowledge of or observes a child in his or her…
