Plaintiff Fieldcrest Cannon, Inc. instituted this action to recover legal defense costs incurred in defending its predecessor, Cannon Mills, Inc. (hereinafter “Cannon”), against certain employment discrimination claims during the 1980’s, and to recover sums paid pursuant to judgments and settlements of certain of those claims.
