From a judgment on a verdict in favor of plaintiff in. a personal injury action defendant appeals, asserting as grounds for reversal errors in the instructions to the jury, errors in the admission of evidence, and contributory negligence of plaintiff.

Respondent was walking in a southerly direction on the west side of La Brea Avenue, in the city of Los Angeles, at about 2 o’clock in the morning.
