This is an action at law brought by the appellants, here referred to as the plaintiffs, in the District Court of the United States for the Middle District of North Carolina, at Greensboro, in June, 1935, against the appellee, United States of America, here referred to as the defendant. The object of the action was to recover upon a war risk term insurance policy issued February 1, 1918, to one George Fields Carroll, in the sum of $5,000.
