In this action the plaintiff sought to recover damages *515for injuries which he sustained through the alleged'negligence of the defendant company. He was a tinner and roofer, in the employ of a contractor who had engaged to copper flash the roofs of certain buildings for the defendant. There were three ways of gaining access to the roofs; by the elevator, by the inside stairway, and by the fire escape.
