This criminal case is before the court on automatic and direct review of defendant’s conviction for aggravated murder and sentence of death. Former ORS 163.150(l)(g) (1997), repealed by Or Laws 1999, ch 1055, § l. For the reasons that follow, we affirm the judgment of conviction and the sentence of death.

The victim in this case disappeared from Portland in March 1993. In May 1993, her body was discovered in a dumpster. An autopsy indicated that she had died of strangulation. Defendant was convicted of seven counts of aggravated murder and 12 other felonies in connection with her death. After…
