OPINION

KELLEHER, Justice.

This is a Superior Court civil action in which the plaintiff, Margaret Ann Dionne, appeals from the trial justice’s grant of a motion for summary judgment in favor of the defendant Joseph Paul Padayhag, M.D., on the grounds that the plaintiff’s claim was barred by the pertinent statute of limitations. Hereafter we shall refer to the deceased, Charles E. Dionne, Jr., and the defendant physicians, Robert E. Baute, David B. Danzer, and Joseph Padayhag, by their last names.
