OPINION
OSBORN, Justice.
This case results from the disciplinary action taken by the administrative authorities of Permian High School in Odessa in ordering a one-day suspension from school of Karen Hopkins, a senior student who acknowledged drinking wine during her lunch hour in violation of school rules. The one-day suspension from school resulted in her expulsion from membership in the Permian High School Chapter of the National Honor Society and from the Permian Pepettes, a local student group organized to foster school spirit.
