This case involves a lawyer who for many years now has not paid his federal student loans. After defendant Gregory Cohan defaulted on his student loans in the early 1990s, he consolidated the defaulted loans into one federal direct consolidated loan — the subject of the current dispute. This loan was payable on an income-contingent repayment plan, whereby the amount of defendant’s monthly payments would be based on his annual income.
