MEMORANDUM OPINION
ELLEN SEGAL HUVELLE, District Judge.
Plaintiff brings this action under the Social Security Act, 42 U.S.C. § 405(g), seeking a reversal of defendant’s decision to deny disability insurance benefits. In the alternative, plaintiff seeks a remand to the Social Security Administration (“SSA”) for a new administrative hearing. The issue presented is whether the administrative law judge (“ALJ”) based his decision to deny benefits on an adequately developed record that contained substantial evidence to support such a denial.
