In the year 1901 an action was begun by the defendants in error in the district court of Pueblo county for the purpose of ’obtaining possession of certain real property situated in said county, and for damages for the wrongful detention thereof. The amended answer alleges as a second defense that the defendant and his grantors have been in the possession of the property since the month of January, 1881, and further, that no action was brought to obtain possession thereof within twenty years after the right to bring such action accrued.
