The defendant, Randy Mink, was convicted, following a jury trial in the circuit court of Lake County, of unlawful possession and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, ch. 56V2, pars. 1401(a)(2), 1402(a)(2).) The defendant filed a post-trial motion alleging, inter alia, that the State failed to introduce sufficient evidence of venue. Judge John L. Hughes, who presided at trial, granted the defendant’s motion for a new trial. The State subsequently filed a motion for reconsideration of the trial court’s order.
