Respondent Stine was the successful plaintiff below. The appellant union was defendant. They are referred to as they appeared in the district court or by their respective abbreviated names. Plaintiff sued for damages for defendant’s alleged breach of a labor agreement, charging that the defendant union called a work stoppage, destroyed plaintiff’s business by depriving him of the assurance that journeymen plumbers would be available to work for him, that his contract jobs were brought to a halt, and that the strike was in violation of provisions of the labor…
